Q: What is the "Palm User Name" (HotSync Name) that I need to provide for the registration? How do I retrieve it?

Each Palm has a user name that is assigned the first time you sync the Palm with a desktop computer. This name can also be changed from the Palm Desktop software.

The registration code is based on this name and unless you provide it accurately, the registration code won't match.

To retrieve the Palm User Name, please do as follows:
1. Launch the Palm Desktop application
2. From the 'Tool' menu select 'Users...'
3. Select your user name
4. Click 'Rename...'
5. This is your Palm User Name.

Alternatively, you can get the Palm User Name from with any product from MobiMate:
1. Launch the program on your Palm.
2. Press the menu button (the bottom-right button on the screen).
3. Select 'Registration' (or 'Registration Code') from the 'Options' menu.

1. Launch the program on your Palm.
2. Press the menu button (the bottom-left button on the screen).
3. Select 'Registration' (or 'Registration Code') from the 'Options' menu.
4. Enter the registration code.
5. You are a registered user!

Q: The registration code I got doesn't match. What should I do?
The registration code is based on the Palm User Name you have sent us.
To make sure we have got the correct name please do as follows:

Troubleshooting

Q: I'm using a CPU acceleration application, and Contacts Proe can not dial while it's in use, why?
If your are using a CPU over clocking(acceleration) application ,(like AfterBurner or FastCPU),
you will have to disable it in order to use the dialing function in Contacts Pro since
these kind of applications interfere with the functionality of the Infrared port on the Palm.

Q: I don't understand how to work with the Smart Keypad!
In this mode you can search for first, last and company names.
For the letter 'B' in 'Bill' tap [ABC] ONCE, for 'i' [GHI] ONCE and so on. Contacts Pro will guess the name you're looking for.

Q: How do I know whether Contacts Pro can dial my Cell phone, or send an SMS?

  1. Simply try Contacts Pro, the trial is free.
  2. Phones that were supported with old versions of Contacts Pro (2.x and older), are also supported by version 3.x, Look here to see if your phone is supported.
If it is not in the list , as version 3.x of Contacts Pro now support the Palm OS telephony, you might need to download a driver for your phone from www.palm.com , once the driver is installed, select it via the Palm preferences, in order to activate it.
  3. If you have a Palm III™ connected organizer running Palm OS 3.0, you should download and install Palm's enhanced Infrared Update .
  4. Make sure your phone's infrared is activated. Please refer to the your phone's manual to see how.
  5. If your are using a CPU over clocking(acceleration) application ,(like AfterBurner or FastCPU),
you will have to disable it in order to use the dialing function in Contacts Pro since these kind of applications interfere with the functionality of the Infrared port on the Palm.

Q: I have an email application installed, but still the 'EMAIL' button in Contacts Pro is disabled.

The EMAIL button will work, only if you'll set the email application you want to use, as the default email application on the Palm, this should be set directly within the email application itself. If you don't know how to do that, contact the developer of the email application you use, and/or consult its manual.

Q: I bought Contacts Pro 2.x (or an older version). Can I upgrade to Contacts Pro 3.0 for free?

Upgrade to Contacts Pro 3.0 is FREE for users who purchased Contacts Pro after Oct 1st 2002. For users who have registered Contacts Pro before that date, the upgrade is proposed at a reduced price of only 7.95$.
